LLL of Eastern PA
Breastfeeding and Parenting Conference
November 20-22, 2009

An Invitation to the Conference

When I was pregnant with my first son, I managed events for Lisner Auditorium on the campus of The George Washington University. My usher staff was comprised of 17-year-old high school students and septuagenarians from the local community. One usher was a retired nurse and mother of five children. She would pass me in the lobby during slow moments of the evening and give me little pearls of wisdom, doling them out one at a time so as not to overwhelm me. To her, these were simple tidbits of information, but to me they were precious glimpses into my future as a mother. Each pearl she shared showed me I was cared for and supported. By the time my son was born, I was able to string the treasures she and others had shared with me into a strand that anchored me in those early weeks. I wear these pearls every day in my life as a mother and as a Leader. We each have our own strand of pearls -- the support we have been given, the information we have found useful. I am looking forward to the conference as an opportunity for us all to lengthen our strands with the pearls of wisdom we share with each other. I will reconnect with old friends and make new connections, get a weekend away from housework in a beautiful hotel, and enjoy the company of a talented and impressive group of dedicated people who share my goals and my passion for the mission of La Leche League. Please join me. Pack your pearls and your overnight bag and gather some treasures at the 2009 LLL of Eastern PA Area Conference.
