La Leche League International Representative
Marian Tompson is one of the seven co-Founders of La Leche League International. She was President of La Leche League (LLL) for 24 years and is currently a member of the Founders Advisory Council. Wife of the late Clement Tompson, she is the mother of seven children, grandmother of sixteen, and as of 2007, great-grandmother of five.
Ms. Tompson was the first editor of what is now New Beginnings and Leaven. She started the breastfeeding library that became the Center for Breastfeeding Information. She began the breastfeeding seminars for physicians, which were held annually from 1973 through 2008 and were accredited by the American Medical Association, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association.
In 2001 Marian founded AnotherLook, a not for profit organization dedicated to gathering information, raising critical questions and stimulating needed research about breastfeeding in the context of HIV/AIDS.
La Leche League Eastern United States Division Representative
Bobbie North is an Associate Publications Department Administrator for the Southern and Appalachain Regions of La Leche League Eastern United States (LLL EUS) and has previously served on the Eastern PA Area Team. Bobbie and husband, Mark, have three children, ages 7, 9, and 12, and reside in Lancaster, PA.
